Shifts:

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Night Shift: 8:00 PM – 4:00 AM

Job Summary

We are actively hiring Asphalt Field Inspectors with NICET Asphalt Level I and Level II certifications to support NYCDOT asphalt paving and roadway construction projects across the 5 Boroughs of New York City. This position involves field inspection, nuclear density testing, and quality control in compliance with NYCDOT standards and specifications.

This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in asphalt inspection, construction materials testing, and roadway inspection.

Required Qualifications

• NICET Asphalt Certification – Level I and Level II (Required)
• Experience in asphalt field inspection on roadway or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of NYCDOT specifications, standards, and inspection procedures
• Experience operating and transporting a Nuclear Density Gauge
• Ability to lift and carry nuclear gauge testing equipment
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle for equipment transport
• Ability to work day or night shifts as required
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineering Degree (Civil Engineering or related field preferred)
  Candidates without an engineering degree are encouraged to apply
• Previous experience on NYCDOT, DOT, municipal, or public works projects
• Familiarity with:
  • Asphalt paving inspection
  • Compaction and density testing
  • Quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA)
  • Construction inspection reporting and documentation

Key Responsibilities

• Perform asphalt paving inspection in accordance with NYCDOT requirements
• Conduct nuclear density testing and verify asphalt compaction
• Monitor asphalt placement, temperatures, thickness, and workmanship
• Ensure contractor compliance with approved plans and specifications
• Prepare accurate field inspection reports, daily logs, and test records
• Coordinate with contractors, NYCDOT representatives, and project managers
