About the Role
We’re hiring experienced Asphalt Field Inspectors with NICET Asphalt Level I & II or Alfred State NYSHMA Density Inspector Certification to support active NYCDOT paving and roadway projects across all five boroughs. You’ll lead on-site inspection, nuclear density testing, and quality control to keep work compliant and on schedule.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect asphalt paving in line with NYCDOT requirements
- Perform nuclear density testing and confirm compaction results
- Monitor placement, temperatures, thickness, and workmanship
- Produce clear daily reports, logs, and test records
- Partner with contractors, NYCDOT representatives, and project managers to keep work progressing efficiently
What You Bring
- NICET Asphalt Level I and Level II
OR
- Alfred State NYSHMA Density Inspector Certification, acceptable in lieu of NICET Levels I & II, provided the candidate possesses a relevant engineering degree and/or demonstrated engineering field experience
- Field inspection experience on roadway/infrastructure projects
- Working knowledge of NYCDOT specifications, standards, and procedures
- Experience operating and transporting a Nuclear Density Gauge
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 35–50 lbs. of test equipment
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle for site-to-site travel
- Willingness to work day or night shifts and outdoors in all weather conditions
Preferred
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Strong inspection reporting and documentation skills
- Experience on NYCDOT, DOT, municipal, or public works projects
- Familiarity with asphalt paving inspection, compaction/density testing, and QC/QA procedures
