The New Second Track on the Main Line Ronkonkoma Branch (Phase I) is a major infrastructure project by the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) aimed at improving service and reducing congestion. This phase involves constructing a second track along a key section of the Ronkonkoma Branch between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma. It enhances train capacity, increases operational flexibility, and supports the LIRR’s East Side Access project, which will eventually connect Long Island commuters to Grand Central Terminal.
